The Goodhue County Social Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of County Agency
Social Worker—School Attendance Specialist in the Child and Family Services Unit.
Kinds of Work: Under general supervision, provides support to children and adolescents who are experiencing school attendance difficulties and
their families. The school attendance specialist will be part of the Child and Family Unit at GCHHS but will spend a majority of
time working with students, families, support systems and school staff in the home or schools in the community.
Examples of Work:
* Creatively build relationships with children and adolescents who are experiencing school attendance issues.
* Partner with students, families, support systems, and schools to address student attendance concerns and increase school engagement and success.
* Regularly monitor school attendance records for students experiencing attendance difficulties.
* Implement evidence-based intervention programming with fidelity.
* Collaborate with and provide support/supervision for mentors for students with attendance difficulties.
* Refer students and families for mental health or other supportive services as needed.
* File court truancy petitions when necessary.
* Provide written court reports and court testimony as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to form positive and supportive relationships with children, adolescent, and families.
* Ability to facilitate problem solving meetings, create plans, monitor implementation and evaluate effectiveness of intervention strategies.
* Knowledge of social work objectives, principles and methods.
* Knowledge of child and adolescent development, psychology, mental health, and social determinants of health.
* Ability to be organized, self-directed, and manage time productively.
* Ability to communicate timely and effectively both orally and in writing, including an ability to maintain current documentation and time reporting.
* Ability to collaborate with individuals from all backgrounds, recognize strengths, and provide support that is culturally and linguistically appropriate for each individual and family.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or closely related field.
Rate of Pay: The pay is $27.23/hour Full time: 40 hours/week.
