Software Applications Engineer

General Job Description Summary:   Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Director of Engineering. The Software Applications Engineer fulfills the need for Product Support Expertise in Helena’s pursuit to create and provide cutting-edge devices and technology in the Medical Industry.  The Software Applications Engineer is a product expert providing top-tier support to our service and technical departments. The Software Applications Engineer will assist in developing, tracking, and maintaining support assets. Performs various clean-up and housekeeping duties.  Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required PPE.  Performs various other duties and activities as directed by the Supervisor and/or Manager.  Must meet all elements of the Helena Standards Pertaining to All Jobs, Job Classification Standards – Job Requirements Matrix and General Job Requirements.

Experience:  Use of the utilities, compilers, debuggers, linkers, etc., employed by the department. This may be waived for proficiency in equivalent utilities. Prefer experience in the software language(s) (C++, C#) used in the development of Helena software. Prefer database (SQL, PostgreSQL) experience. Prefer proficiency in ASTM and HL7 medical device communication protocols. Prefer prior experience with customer service.

Education, Training and Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or related field preferred.
