Function: The Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day functioning and management of the residential home and supervision of staff. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of the programs and services offered by The Elder’s House, including overseeing assessments, case management, service planning, staff scheduling and supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the CAO with supervision of Elder’s House staff and consultants
- Meet with CAO for weekly individual supervision
- Train staff and monitor the implementation of Life Skills Curriculum and home rules
- Monitor the daily duties of all child care workers through the utilization of a daily checklist
- Secure and/or provide appropriate training on medication administration, if applicable
- Ensure all appointments are made and transportation is provided for residents
- Coordinate with the CAO and staff for all necessary residential home purchases with approval
- Ensure that all required residential home logs and documentation are complete and up-to-date
- Oversee all Case Management
- Complete staff schedules to ensure optimum coverage
- Responsible for compliance with licensing and accreditation standards
- Monitor the completion of independent living skills curriculum by all child care workers
- Assist CAO with ensuring all staff have completed orientation, mandatory trainings and on-going trainings
- Provide orientation and training for all new staff
- Create and monitor any corrective action plans necessary for residents and staff
- Participate in a rotating on-call system
- Conduct unannounced periodic visits to the residential home during weekends, holidays, and after hours
- Responsible for overall maintenance of and documentation regarding property and vehicles
- Coordinate with CAO and staff to assess needs for work orders for necessary up keep of the facility
- Assure that safety is provided, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are checked and monthly fire drills are held
- Complete all reports regarding residential home functioning to CAO.
- Participate in weekly House Meetings
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
- Ensure compliance with the Standards for Licensed Children’s Residential Facilities
- Initiate and implement operational policies - receiving and implementing the general policies of VDSS division of Licensing Programs
- Ensure adherence to first aid and CPR training
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Direct and monitor program development, implementation, and operations
- Ensure that current, accurate, and appropriate client records and other relevant documentation involving the clients and/or programming are maintained
- Ensure safe administration of client medication to include all rights, knowledge of side effects and contraindications, along with safe storage of medication
- Provide interface with other childcare agencies
- Complete necessary forms for client participation in community activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE NIGHTS AND SOME WEEKENDS.
- Must have at least:
- A master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or similar discipline and a combination of two years professional experience with children, in a children’s residential facility and in administration or supervision;
- A baccalaureate degree in social work, psychology, counseling or similar discipline and a combination of three years professional experience with children, in a children’s residential facility and in administration or supervision; or
- A baccalaureate degree and a combination of four years of professional experience with children, in a children’s residential facility and in administration or supervision.
- Must submit official transcripts from the accredited college or university
- Must submit documentation of prior relevant experience
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity issues and an ability to effectively work with people of diverse backgrounds/races
- Strong assessment skills

- Ability to effectively work as a team member
- Ability to effectively work with youth to provide intervention relationship building skills

- Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile with at least state minimum liability insurance coverage and pass all required background checks

- A TB test
PREFERENCE:
- Currently possess valid unexpired Medication Administration certification
- Currently possess valid unexpired CPR & First Aid certification
